THE NEED
Bermuda may be small, but our needs for blood are very large.
Not enough blood is donated annually to support the large needs for it.
Blood, having a very short shelf life, cannot be manufactured and is only imported under extreme cases. But, blood is better fresh and we require 25-35 donors per month to meet the requirements of our patients.
In general, Bermuda needs more donors because we don't have enough.
This is for a few reasons, the main ones being: most people that are eligible for donating are not aware of need for donation or simply do not want to for their own reasons.
Also, Bermuda had had a donward trend in donors because the original ones are too old to donate now.
Our overall need is awareness for this matter and, since we are running a blood drive, our need is blood too!
